AIDS Walk 2009
AIDS Research Alliance
Invites you to
“Walk the Walk” for a Cure
Be a TEAM LEADER raising funds benefiting AIDS Research Alliance in the
First Annual “Walk the Walk” team event at AIDS Walk Los Angeles!
What does a team leader do exactly?
As a team leader, you’ll build a team of walkers to raise money for the AIDS Research Alliance team. Team leaders are crucial to making Walk the Walk successful, fun and inspiring. We’re looking for 10 committed, spirited folks to recruit walkers for this event. We’ll look to you to reach out to your friends, families, co-workers, and social networks to get people involved in our exciting AIDS Walk event.
As a Team Leader, the size and composition of your team is up to you. We do recommend recruiting at least 8-10 team members, because the larger the group, the easier it will be for your team to reach its suggested goal of $1000.
Is there a minimum amount I (or my team) must raise?
No, not at all. We want everyone to set their sights high, however, so encourage your teammates to aim for raising at least $100, if not $250 or $500. Last year the average amount raised by individuals was $1284.
How do I find teammates?
In the past, team leaders have had success forming teams in many ways. Some ideas:
- Broadcast emails to your
contact lists; use your Facebook or MySpace pages to keep
them up to date on what you’re doing; link to ARA’s pages to keep in touch with us. - Encourage your family members to join you.
- Circulate a memo around your office.
- Make phone calls, make announcements at group meetings.
Once you’ve built a team, all you need to do is keep them in the loop about dates, deadlines, and events and help them stay motivated to reach their fundraising goals.
And then what happens?
AIDS Research Alliance will be hosting several fun kick off events - including our first mixer on August 5th - over the months leading up to the Walk. We’ll keep you informed about those events so you can get your team members involved and active. We’ll also have a number of incredible incentive prizes available to those of you who meet or exceed fundraising goals.
Okay, where do I sign up?
Call Gwendolyn Martin at 310-358-2423, or email her at gmartin@aidsresearch.org. You’ll then set up your AIDS Walk page and start building your team. Join us on August 5th or make plans to come to a follow-up event if that doesn’t work for you.
