AIDS Walk 2009

AIDS Research Alliance is recruiting friends and supporters to
Walk the Walk!

AIDS Research Alliance will be a Community Partner in the 2009 AIDS Walk Los Angeles, meaning all funds raised by our team will go directly to AIDS Research Alliance to support our innovative, independent research.  Your participation and leadership is crucial to helping make this event successful, fun, and inspiring.  We’re asking our friends and supporters to join our “Walk the Walk” team event at AIDS Walk and help us make the search for meaningful treatments, prevention, and a cure a reality, not just a dream.

Date: Sunday, October 18, 2009

Location: West Hollywood Park at San Vicente Boulevard, between Melrose Ave. and Santa Monica Blvd.

AIDS Walk is a 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) walk and takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete.

How It Works:

Our team members take on the challenge of raising funds for AIDS Research Alliance through Walk the Walk by asking friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and employers to sponsor them for the 10 kilometers they will be walking.  $1, $5, $10… every penny counts and makes a real difference, particularly for an organization that directs 82 cents of every dollar to meaningful research and programs. 

We’ll be signing up 100 walkers and 10 committed, spirited team leaders to help us reach our goal.  If every one of us raises even just $100, AIDS Research Alliance will be able to fund the study of a new drug, conduct community outreach meetings, distribute educational materials, and make a real impact in slowing and eventually halting the progress of HIV/AIDS.

All donations you collect will go to AIDS Research Alliance following the event.  Your hard work will have an immediate and lasting impact on our ability to conduct further clinical trials on cutting-edge prevention methods, vaccines, microbicides and other vital research initiatives.

1. Join Our Team!

Fill in the information form and create your personal fundraising page.
Start raising money to support AIDS Research Alliance!  Ask your sponsors to log onto the AIDS Walk web site, find your name, and make a donation to     support you. 

Keep in touch with us through our team home page.  We’ll send regular updates and information about team mixers, prizes you can win, and upcoming event dates.

2. Become a Team Leader!

Recruit walkers to join the AIDS Research Alliance team and help us meet our goals.  Tap into your social network, get your co-workers to join you, make a family event of it: AIDS Walk can be a fun, inspiring, meaningful way to connect with your social circle and your community.

3. Join Us for Our Team Mixer Event on:

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

Join us for our first team event on August 5th at our offices in downtown Los Angeles.  We’ll enjoy refreshments and give you all the tools you need to get started, either as a walker or a team leader.  You’ll also learn a little bit more about AIDS Research Alliance and our twenty years of innovative work.  Bring your friends, co-workers or come to meet other like-minded individuals donating their time and energy to our important work.

4. Get friends, family, and co-workers to join the team with you!

Make it a social event (or a friendly competition).  Round up a group of like-minded folks, raise money for this tremendous cause, and Walk the Walk together.

5. Sponsor Our Team or an Individual Walker!
