Macy's
Passport
Instore Event on September 23rd & 24th
AIDS
Research Alliance (ARA) joined other Los Angeles AIDS service
organizations as participants in Macy's Passport Instore Event
this past September. Presented by Men's Health Magazine and
sponsored by Home Magazine, Mademoiselle Magazine, Mega 92.3
FM, Guess?, Yahoo.com, AT&T; and 24 Hour Fitness, in association
with Virgin Megastore, Evian, Ferrarelle, Peet's Coffee &
Tea and Odwalla, the event supported area HIV/AIDS organizations,
including AIDS Research Alliance, APLA, Being Alive, Caring
for Babies with AIDS, Families in New Directions, L.A. Shanti,
East Los Angeles Women's Shelter, Project Angel Food, Asian
Pacific AIDS Intervention Team, Foothill AIDS Project and
the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, among many others.
Each
participating group sold special $10 discount coupons entitling
the purchaser to 20% off all fashion & accessory purchases,
15% off bed, bath, tabletop, housewares, frames & luggage,
and 10% off furniture, mattresses, floor coverings, fine &
estate jewelry, for use at the Beverly Center Macy's Saturday,
September 23 and Sunday, September 24th. Special preview shopping
opportunities were offered by Macy's from August 26th until
September 24th. These coupons could also be used on 9/23 and
9/24 at Virgin Megastore (Sunset store), provided the coupon
holder went first to Macy's on that day and had their ticket
validated at the door.
A
number of special in-store events were held on both days to
enhance the two-day "shopping experience", including a Home
Magazine cooking demonstration, seminar & tasting, and a fashion
presentation (with free gift bag) offered by Mademoiselle
Magazine. Men's Health Magazine provided a complimentary massage
to anyone purchasing Savane Pants, and product samplings were
available from Peet's Coffee & Tea, Evian, Odwalla and others.
AIDS
Research Alliance would like to thank Macy's West, their special
event coordinators and all of the event sponsors for arranging
this successful event, as well as the volunteers that served
at the event on behalf of AIDS Research Alliance.
