Founded by Southern California physicians and AIDS activists in 1989, AIDS ReSearch Alliance (ARA) tackles HIV on several fronts: improving the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS by searching for more effective treatments and ways to repair damaged immune systems, as well as studying vaccines to prevent the spread of HIV. Studies performed at ARA have involved 15 of the 24 approved anti-HIV drugs, and our efforts led to the FDA approval of four.
