Hepatitis Study

AIDS Research Alliance is looking for volunteers to participate in a blood collection study.

Eligible volunteers will be asked to provide 4 tubes of blood and will be compensated $50 for participation.

AIDS Research Alliance Leukapheresis Study Mamala plant

Are you HIV positive with undetectable viral load?

The purpose of this study is to collect white blood cells from your blood through a process called leukapheresis. Scientists at ARA will use these cells for studies on prostratin and its cure research program.

During this procedure, white blood cells will be collected from your blood. The procedure requires 3-5 hours. Up to 20 volunteers may be needed.

Eligible volunteers may be compensated up to $250 per visit, for time and travel.

Eligible Volunteers should:

• Have excellent peripheral veins for placement of two catheters, one on each arm.
• Weigh more than 160 lbs.
• Be of age between 18-65 years.
• Have not had large blood draws done within prior 8 weeks.
• Be in good health and feeling well.
• CD4 count of at least 350 cells/ul
• Proof of undetectable viral load (fewer than 50 copies/ml) for the past year.

Hepatitis B Study

Have you been diagnosed with acute or chronic Hepatitis B?

The purpose of this study is to collect blood samples for biomedical research and the development of new therapeutics.

Eligible volunteers may be compensated up to $50 per visit, for your time and travel.

During your visit we will draw 60-75 ml blood which will be used for research studies.

Eligible Volunteers should:

• Be of age between 18-65 years.

• Have been diagnosed with acute or chronic Hepatitis B.

Egrifta® Diabetic Retinopathy Study Egrifta

Are you HIV positive and

Do you have Type II Diabetes and

Do you have excess abdominal fat?

You may be eligible to participate in a research study of EGRIFTA® conducted by ARA. This study is investigating the effects of EGRIFTA® compared to placebo on the progression of diabetic retinopathy. Study subjects will not be charged for taking part in the investigation, or charged for study drugs or study-related medical procedures.  If you volunteer to participate in the study, you will be required to make 16 visits over a 3 year period.  You will be compensated for your time and travel up to $750.  For more information, please call our clinic for prescreening at (310) 358-2434 or email studyinfo@aidsresearch.org

 



Hepatitis, HTLV and Increased Risk Blood Collection Study Abbott

AIDS Research Alliance is looking for volunteers to participate in a blood collection study. Eligible volunteers must have a past or current diagnosis of any of the following diseases:

Acute or Chronic Hepatitis B, Acute Hepatitis C, or Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV).

Individuals without a history of these may qualify based on other criteria.

Eligible volunteers will be asked to provide 4 tubes of blood and will be compensated $50 for participation.

TAMIFLU® Study

Do you know someone who has the flu? Do you think you’re next? Are you HIV positive and experiencing flu-like symptoms such as body aches, fatigue, chills, or fever?

Call AIDS Research Alliance to see if you qualify for a study of TAMIFLU® which includes a free 20-minute rapid flu test, study-related medical care, and study medications. Participants must call within 2-3 days of the start of their symptoms to be eligible. All attempts will be made to see you same day or the next.

Egrifta® Long-Term Observational Study

Are you HIV positive?

Do you have excess abdominal fat (lipodystrophy)?

Are you planning to take Egrifta® or have you ever taken Egrifta®?

If so, you may be eligible to participate in a 10-year observational study conducted by AIDS Research Alliance. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of long-term exposure to Egrifta®. If you agree to participate, study visits will occur every 6 months over a 10-year period. Egrifta® will not be provided in this study. Study participants must obtain a prescription for Egrifta® from their physician. Volunteers will be compensated for their time and travel.
